Sant Baba Nand Singh Ji

He was born in impecunious circumstances in the miniscule village of Kleran, District Ludhiana Punjab in the year 1875. He was a carpenter both by tribe and vocation.

From early days He became a devotee of Guru Nanak and of His and other Gurus' written word in Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh Holy Book whom he worshipped and served as a living [)ivinity. Sleeping and resting only for 2 - 3 hours in a day. He would devote the remaining time in cons-tant and deep meditation. He would do 'Prakash' of Guru Granth Sahib at 2 a.m. He would not partake of food unless it had first been offered to Guru Granth Sahib. He founded a mud and reed settlement near Kleran as a convenient place for an Asthan of worship, called Nanaksar. The living in Nanaksar was frugal and monastical in character but intense in worship of God.

During his lifetime Baba Ji did not permit the use of stone or brick for construction at the, Asthan. When Rai Bahadur Narain Singh offered to reconstruct the Asthan in marble at an expense of millions, he refused, predicting his early death in a matter of months, he never-the-less granted him Mukti and kalyan (everlasting grace). To Sant Suhjan Singh, his cherished Kirtinya, He granted Darshan of Guru Nanak.

Baba Ji's life and the day to day occurrences at the Asthan were daily miracles.
